August Off-Price Specialist Show delivers sold out exhibition of Values, Brands
BROOKFIELD, WI - The Off Price Specialist Center announced today that their recent August Fashion Week offering was a huge success for vendors and buyers alike. A 10% increase in buyer attendance and an equal increase in exhibit space from last year’s show was the right formula for a very active order-writing marketplace.
“I wrote 5 very good orders in the last hour and a half of the show, and this was supposed to be the slowest day,” said Todd Andolino of Park Avenue Wholesale in Lackawanna, New York. This top off price distributor specializing in licensed team jackets and coats had already “made their show” on the first day with orders from leading chains.
“Winter goods were a big seller at this show,” observed New York buying office Steven Gould. “My clients and I were very pleased with the deals we found.”
Basics and lower price point goods were also successful categories with several vendors reporting tremendous business activity.
“My lower price point items performed better than the upscale goods that we are known for,” said Kathy Chikato of Commerce, CA–based DLM Off Price Specialists.
“I believe that all vendors had a fair play at this show, and from my conversations with attendees, they found what they needed,” announced David Lapidos, Senior Vice President for the Off Price Show. “We had a sizeable influx of accessories and other new buyers at this show, and they were pleasantly surprised at the amount of product that was available to them. All who attended will re-affirm that this industry is very much alive.”
Kelly Calhoun, Manager of Hammer’s Department Store in Clinton, Tennessee agrees. “We found a few new sources and we were able to complete some areas we were in need of like college football merchandise, name brand fleece and a lot of insulated work wear. When you have it all in one place, you are able to hit so many more vendors.”
Sharron Ballantyne, General Manager of Ballantyne & Co. Ltd. in New Zealand made her first trip to the Off Price Show upon the advice of her Los Angeles buying service Marshall Kline. Like Calhoun, she was very impressed with the enormous offering of values in all categories. “I am particularly excited about an order I made on pajamas from a New York vendor who was not on my radar.”
Lapidos and the rest of the show team also took great pride in the success of new vendors displaying at the show for the first time.
Kenneth Delaney of the Bordan Shoe Company in Los Angeles was one of them. “It was nice to meet a lot of new customers and future friends. Thanks to everyone that was patient enough to wait in line for our product!”
The August Off Price Specialist Show had a total attendance of 10,318 with over 450 exhibitors.
